Emer McCarthy

Emer McCarthy has extensive experience in the disability sector, currently serving as Regional Manager at NCBI - Working for People With Sight Loss since November 2015, while also functioning as Area Manager at the National Learning Network since 2008. Previous roles include Community Services Manager at RehabCare from 2004 to 2008, Policy and Public Affairs Advisor at the National Disability Authority from 2002 to 2004, and Disability and Older People Health Promotion Officer at HSE from 2000 to 2002. Emer McCarthy also worked as a Senior Resource Officer at the National Association for Deaf People from 1996 to 2000 and as a freelance Irish Sign Language Interpreter from 1994 to 1996. Educational qualifications include an MSc in Rehabilitation Studies from University College Dublin, a Diploma in Deaf Studies and Sign Language Interpreting from Trinity College Dublin, a Diploma in Aural Rehabilitation from UCD, and a BA in Applied Linguistics from Bangor UCNW.
