Prafulla Aryal

Prafulla Aryal is a Senior Scientist at Visterra Inc. since April 2019, with a strong background in ion channel research. Prior experience includes a Research Associate position at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus from January 2017 to March 2019, focusing on the structure/function and pharmacology of acid sensing ion channels. Prafulla's academic career features a Wellcome Trust OXION Research Training Fellowship at the University of Oxford (August 2012 - January 2017), where the investigation centered on mechano-sensitive ion channels, and a Postdoctoral Research Fellow role at the University of California (June 2010 - 2012), focusing on pain sensing ion channels. Earlier research at the Salk Institute included work on alcohol's effects on ion channels as an NIH NRSA Predoctoral fellow (2004 - 2010) and undergraduate research at the University of Colorado Boulder. Prafulla holds a Ph.D. in Neurobiology from UC San Diego and a B.A. in Molecular, Cellular, Developmental Biology and Biochemistry, graduated summa cum laude, from the University of Colorado Boulder.
