Alex Shirreffs is a seasoned public health professional with extensive experience in harm reduction and substance use disorder (SUD) policy development. Currently serving as a Technical Advisor at Vital Strategies, Alex collaborates with the Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs to enhance harm reduction services, coordinate symposiums, and drive the rollout of various initiatives, including the Pennsylvania Overdose Prevention Program. Previously, as a Senior Project Manager, Alex successfully modernized Pennsylvania’s SUD confidentiality policies, established legislative frameworks, and led stakeholder assessments. Earlier work includes leading the Hepatitis C Micro-Elimination Project in Philadelphia and founding the Hepatitis C Allies of Philadelphia coalition. Alex holds a Master of Public Health from the University of Washington and a dual Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Media Studies from Fordham University.
