Steven J. Smith has over 25 years of work experience. Steven J. started their career as a Computer Operator at NKU in 1984 and later worked as a Senior Operations Analyst at Joseph E. Seagram & Sons. In 1994, they became the Director of Information Systems at Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP, overseeing technology strategy and implementation.
From 1999 to 2003, Smith served on the Board of Directors for the Telecommunications Board of Northern Kentucky, assuming roles such as Chairman, Vice-Chairman, and Treasurer.
In 2002, they became the Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors for Boone County Water District and served until 2011. From 2004 to 2011, they also served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Boone-Florence Water Commission, responsible for managing and controlling water distribution.
In 2011, Smith joined VITAS Healthcare as the VP of IT Governance, responsible for security and compliance efforts. Steven J. then moved to the role of VP and Chief Technology Officer, where they led security and compliance efforts and managed the Project Management Office. In 2015, they were promoted to SVP and Chief Technology Officer, with additional responsibilities of overseeing the Business Process Improvement Center and annual multi-million dollar capital improvement requests.
Steven J. Smith obtained their Associate's degree in Management Information Systems from Cincinnati State Technical and Community College between 1982 and 1985. Steven J. then pursued a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Mount St. Joseph University, which they completed between 1985 and 1990.
