Sandra Amezquita began their work experience in 1995 as an Executiva Programa de Cultura Ciudadana at Instituto Distrital de Cultura y Turismo. Sandra then worked as a Docente Taller de Arquitectura I at Universidad Piloto de Colombia from 1996 to 1997. In 1997, they joined Instituto de Desarrollo Urbano, where they held various roles including Gerente del programa Desmarginalización de barrios subnormales and Coordinadora de proyectos para la movilidad - Unidad de Cultura Ciudadana. Their most recent role is as a Directora Ejecutiva y Managing Partner at Viventa LLC, which they have held since 2005. In this role, they are responsible for the strategic direction and leadership of the company, as well as brand management and the development of demand generation strategies.

Sandra Amezquita began their education in 1989 at Universidad Piloto de Colombia, where they pursued a Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) from 1989 to 1994. In 1996, they attended McGill University and obtained a degree in English as a Second Language. During the same year, they also enrolled at Universidad Piloto de Colombia for a Master's degree in Urban Management, which they completed in 1997. In 2002 and 2003, Sandra attended Raritan Valley Community College, studying Drawing I and II as well as Ceramic.
