Ian Shrimpton has over 15 years of work experience in various technology leadership roles. Ian is currently working as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Vivi since February 2018. Prior to that, they worked as a Product Owner at Australia Post on a contract basis from October 2017 to February 2018.
From 2015 to 2017, Ian held the position of Director of Software Engineering at Hitwise, following the company's acquisition by Symphony Technology Group (STG). During this time, they played a crucial role in on-shoring the development and operations teams and establishing Hitwise as a self-sufficient entity in Australia.
Before joining Hitwise, Ian worked at Experian from 2014 to 2015, where they served as the Head of Development for Hitwise, responsible for the multi-site APAC development groups. Ian also held the position of Product Development Manager, leading the development and QA teams for the Hitwise product range.
Prior to that, Ian worked at Amazon from 2011 to 2014 as a Software Development Manager for Amazon Prime Video. Ian was responsible for the billing platform and global purchasing and subscription services for Amazon Instant Video.
Ian also gained valuable experience at LOVEFiLM from 2010 to 2011, initially as a Senior Software Engineer, responsible for improving the website's user experience, and later as a Team Leader managing the DevOps team.
In 2008, Ian co-founded Persistent Mobile, a mobile content direct-to-consumer company, where they served as the Technical Director. The company developed its own M-commerce platform and successfully launched branded digital content services.
Prior to that, Ian worked at Mobile Streams from 2004 to 2009, initially as a Technical Architect, leading the re-architecture of the company's technology infrastructure, and later as the Chief Architect overseeing the rollout of the core technology platform.
Ian's earlier roles include Product Development Manager at Trinity Mirror plc in 2003 and a Support Analyst role at T-Mobile on a contract basis in 2003.
Ian Shrimpton attended The University of Salford where they pursued a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Software Development. Ian also pursued a BTEC HND degree in Software Engineering at The University of Salford. However, specific start and end years for these educational experiences are not available.
