Joy Linsdell has over 17 years of experience in the software engineering and quality assurance fields. Joy began their career in 2004 as a TM500 Test Team Leader at Aeroflex Cambridge Ltd, where they planned and coordinated testing on concurrent product versions, designed and scripted tests using Perl to validate channel signalling, and developed test tools in Perl and Python. In 2007, they took on the role of Test Manager at Infomatrix Ltd, where they were responsible for developing Test Strategies and managing testing of products for data compression and acceleration over Tetra Radio Networks. In 2008, they returned to Amino Communications as a CA Development and Test Engineer, where they were responsible for the development and functional testing of conditional access software for Set Top Boxes. In 2011, they worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Polatis, where they were responsible for requirements analysis and implementation of an Issue reporting/tracking system. In 2014, they became a Senior Software Test Engineer at Global Inkjet Systems Ltd, where they coordinated testing of new software releases, produced wiki-based test documentation, and developed automated tests and test tools. In 2015, they took on the role of Senior Software Test Engineer and subsequently Test Team Lead at Elektron Technology plc, where they made a significant contribution to the test strategy for integrating the various system components. In 2020, they became a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer at Harbr. Most recently, in 2021, they began their role as Quality Assurance Engineer at VividQ, where they are essential to ensuring the integrity, quality and overall performance of their software for computer-generated holography.

Joy Linsdell began their educational journey in 1980 when they attended the University of Warwick, where they obtained their BSc (Hons) in Computer Systems Engineering in 1983. Joy then went on to The Open University and completed a Bachelor's Degree with a bias towards Earth Sciences and Technology in 2013. In 2017, they obtained a Postgraduate Certificate in Space Science from The Open University. Additionally, in 2007, they received an ISEB Foundation Certificate in Software Testing from the International Software Testing Qualifications Board.
