Carol Thompson has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Carol started their career as a Staff Nurse at Queen Margaret Hospital in 1994. From there, they worked at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, holding various roles including Senior Nurse, Charge Nurse, Respiratory Nurse Specialist, and finally, Respiratory Nurse Practitioner. In 2008, they ventured into business ownership in Bridge of Allan before joining Transform as a Regional Lead Nurse in 2009. Carol then served as Registered Manager at Lyle Court, Barnton Edinburgh from 2014 to 2016. Following this, they worked as a Clinical Nurse Manager at NHS Fife for a brief period in 2016. Later, they joined Newcross Healthcare Solutions as a Business Centre Manager from 2012 to 2017. Carol then moved on to Robinson Medical Recruitment, serving as Head Of Operations and later as Head of Clinical Governance from 2017 to 2019. Their most recent role was as Matron/Head of Clinical Services at The Edinburgh Clinic from 2019 to 2020. Currently, they are working as a Clinical Service Lead at VIVISOL, starting in 2020.

Carol Thompson attended Grangemouth High School from 1984 to 1988, where they studied Registered Nursing. Carol then pursued General Nursing at Fife College of Health Studies (University of Dundee) from 1991 to 1994. Later, they enrolled at the University of Liverpool from 2001 to 2006, obtaining a degree in Respiratory Management in the field of Respiratory Care Therapy/Therapist. Additionally, in 2005 to 2006, Carol attended Queen Margaret University, where they earned a degree in Nurse Prescribing.
