Edgardo Rivera-Delgado, Ph.D. has extensive work experience in the field of bioinformatics and pharmaceutical research. Starting in 2005, they worked as a Quality Assurance Intern at Amgen, where they applied statistical process control theory to analyze the production process of recombinant protein products. Edgardo also tracked a large dataset from the manufacturing line, leading to improvements in the quality workflow.
In 2006, Rivera-Delgado served as a Research Intern in Luke Lee's lab at UC Berkeley. Here, they optimized the bonding properties of a microfluidic device and analyzed the effect of using different protein concentrations in the attachment efficiency of breast cancer cells.
From 2006 to 2008, Rivera-Delgado worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez. In this role, they implemented the detection of recombinant protein production in a bacterial bioreactor and cross-validated the results using Western Blot.
Rivera-Delgado then moved on to Universidad de Santiago de Compostela, where they served as a Research Intern in Juan Lema's lab from 2007 to 2008.
In 2008, Rivera-Delgado joined Case Western Reserve University as a Graduate Student. During this time, they designed strategies for the delivery of small molecules, genes, recombinant proteins, and cell therapies. Edgardo also identified hits for therapeutic repurposing by screening a library of molecules and developed different cell clones through transfection techniques.
At Case Western Reserve University, Rivera-Delgado transitioned to the role of a Postdoctoral Fellow in 2015. Here, they designed an injectable for the extended release of corticosteroids and led a project to predict the affinity interactions between small molecules and formulations using various QSAR methods.
Most recently, Rivera-Delgado has been working at Vivtex as a Bioinformatics Scientist since 2020. Edgardo has now taken on the role of Principal Scientist, where they continue to contribute their expertise in bioinformatics and pharmaceutical research.
Overall, Rivera-Delgado's work experience demonstrates their strong background in bioinformatics, drug formulation, cell therapy, and recombinant protein production.
Edgardo Rivera-Delgado, Ph.D. pursued their education in a systematic manner, gradually advancing in their academic journey. Edgardo earned their Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Biotechnology from the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez, a period spanning from 2003 to 2008. Following their undergraduate studies, they decided to specialize further and pursued a Master of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering at Case Western Reserve University. This pursuit occurred between 2008 and 2011. Edgardo then continued their educational journey at the same institution and eventually obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering, completing their studies from 2011 to 2015. Through this progression, Edgardo Rivera-Delgado solidified their foundation in the field of bioengineering and biomedical engineering.
