Maarten Sileghem

Maarten Sileghem is a seasoned professional in the fields of international collaboration and strategy, currently serving as the Head of International Collaboration and Strategy at VLAIO - Flanders Innovation & Entrepreneurship since January 2016. Sileghem's extensive experience includes roles as Director and Advisor at IWT from March 1996 to December 2015, where responsibilities focused on life sciences and biotechnology. Additionally, Sileghem held the position of Scientist and Project Leader at ILRI's Biotechnology Research Theme, contributing to advancements in animal health and tropical livestock disease management from January 1991 to February 1996. Early career work at ILRAD involved postdoctoral research in veterinary immunology. Sileghem earned a Ph.D. in Immunology and a Master's degree in Biotechnology from Vrije Universiteit Brussel.
