Sofie Theunissen

Sofie Theunissen has a diverse work experience in various companies and roles. Sofie started their career at Avecom NV as an R&D Manager in 2009. Sofie then joined AZ Maria Middelares as a Staff Member Research & Innovation in 2010, where they worked until 2017. During this time, they gained experience in research and innovation in the healthcare sector. In 2017, they joined Medtronic as a Strategic Partnerships & Integrated Health Solutions Manager - Neuroscience, where they developed healthcare programs and strategic partnerships with healthcare organizations. In 2020, Sofie joined Vlerick Business School as the Head of Healthcare Expert Club. Currently, they are working at Medtronic as a Business Development & Strategy Director - Neuromodulation, where they are responsible for developing a growth strategy and building strong relationships in the field of Neuromodulation.

Sofie Theunissen has a diverse education history. Sofie holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Biochemistry from Ghent University, which they earned from 2002 to 2008. Prior to that, they obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Biochemistry from the same university from 1998 to 2002. Sofie also attended Vlerick Business School, where they completed an Executive MBA program from 2015 to 2017. Sofie further pursued their studies at the University of California, Berkeley in 2017, focusing on Innovation & Entrepreneurship. Additionally, Sofie briefly attended Beijing International Studies University in 2016 to study International Business. Currently, they are enrolled at Vlerick Business School in the Digital Leadership field of study, with an expected completion date in 2021. Sofie began their education at the European School in Luxembourg, where they obtained a European Baccalaureate degree, although the specific dates are unknown.
