Norm Wakumoto began their career at Northrop Grumman Corporation in 1990, where they worked as a Senior Engineer, programming the fly-by-wire flight control system for the B2 Stealth Bomber. Norm also participated in a skills assessment and training team for the software engineering department. In 1994, they joined MPSI Systems as a System Engineer, providing support to top oil companies in Japan and helping to build the Tokyo office into the leading foreign office for sales and services.
After that, Wakumoto worked at Pacific Rim World Sector Corporation as an IT Administrator, where they managed IT networks and support for field offices in multiple countries. Norm then joined Network Testing Solutions as a Sales Engineer, representing test and performance measurement tool manufacturers. Norm'sresponsibilities included delivering pre-sales presentations and post-sales product training to leading router, switch, and VoIP equipment manufacturers.
In 2003, Wakumoto operated their own consulting firm called Highspeed Business Technologies, specializing in 802.11 test tools and networks. Norm successfully built the Colorado-Utah sales channel for AirMagnet and standardized wireless test products in major corporate accounts.
From 2007 to 2011, Wakumoto worked as a Field Service Technician at Psion, supporting their product line and developing a new services revenue stream by creating an audit procedure for wireless PCI compliance. Norm also installed and upgraded wireless LANs.
In 2011, Wakumoto returned to Vocera Communications as an Implementation Engineer. Norm excelled in technical planning, architecture, and installation of the company's healthcare communications system. Norm also played a role in mentoring new Implementation Engineers.
Following this, they worked as an IT Consultant at Tierra Group International, Ltd., where they served as network manager and successfully implemented distributed data and telephony networks.
Most recently, Wakumoto returned to Vocera Communications in 2014 as a Senior Implementation Engineer, where they were recognized for their quality delivery of the communications platform and their strong team-building skills.
Norm Wakumoto earned a Bachelor's degree in Engineering Science - Computing Option from Colorado State University, from 1981 to 1986. Additionally, they obtained a certification as an ACMP (Aruba Certified Mobility Professional) from Aruba Networks in January 2010, an ACMA (Aruba Certified Mobility Associate) from Aruba Networks in January 2009, a CWSP (Certified Wireless Security Professional) from Certified Wireless Network Professional in December 2006, a CWAP (Certified Wireless Analysis Professional) from Certified Wireless Network Professional in June 2005, and a CWNA (Certified Wireless Network Administrator) from Certified Wireless Network Professional in September 2002.
