Paul Deacon has a long and distinguished career in marketing and product development. Paul began their career in 1998 as a Marketing Manager for Kérastase at L'Oréal. During their time there, they developed launches, campaigns and animations which resulted in a global growth of sun haircare by 8% and fine haircare franchise by 13%. Paul then moved to L'Oreal Paris as a Product Manager, where they developed TV, press and outdoor campaigns resulting in a 12% increase in sell-through over 2 years.

In 2006, Paul Deacon joined The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. as a Marketing Director for Aveda & Bumble and bumble (EMEA & Oceania). Paul directed marketing initiatives which accounted for 70% of Aveda’s international turnover and impacted 80% of the subsequent 3 years’ growth of the non-US business. Paul also held a pivotal role for all 3-year global strategic planning and negotiated regional needs with global Aveda & Bumble and bumble teams in the USA.

In 2012, Paul Deacon became the Senior Marketing Director for Algenist, where they were the 7th employee to join the high-growth skincare start-up. Under their leadership, Algenist retail sales increased from $9m to $40m in 2012 and to $60m in 2013, achieving net profitability in 2013. Paul also initiated the “Genius of Microalgae” campaign to build prestige consumer engagement and secure retailer appeal.

In 2014, Paul Deacon joined Juice Beauty, Inc. as an Investor & VP Marketing. Paul led the brand/marketing/product strategy that fuelled 4 years of consecutive 35%+ growth YOY, lifting Juice Beauty’s ranking at Ulta within prestige skincare from #15 to #5. Paul also repositioned the brand for accelerated prestige distribution and launched Juice Beauty at Bloomingdale’s, Neiman Marcus, Anthropologie, Credo, Sephora Canada and Mecca Australia.

Most recently, in 2019, Paul Deacon joined Volition Beauty as General Manager and Chief Marketing Officer. In this role, they are leading the marketing, product development and retailer sales of a community-driven, clean beauty brand that serves the burgeoning creator economy. Currently sold at Ulta, Dermstore, Sephora, Mecca, Amazon and goop.

Paul Deacon holds a Bachelor of Arts Honours degree in French and Linguistics from the University of Oxford.
