Gijs Walenkamp

Gijs Walenkamp serves as the Head of Department for R&D Budget & Supplier Management at Volkswagen Group (China) Technology Co., Ltd., beginning January 2024, where responsibilities include establishing the department, managing technical suppliers, and overseeing division R&D budget planning. Previously, Gijs held the position of Head of Department for R&D Process & Supplier Management at Volkswagen Smart E-Mobility Hub from April 2021 to December 2023, focusing on supplier management and quality systems. Gijs’ extensive experience at Volkswagen Group includes roles in technical supplier management, process management, and cost engineering, spanning over two decades and covering key responsibilities in NEV projects and strategic development. Gijs holds a Master’s Degree in International Automotive Engineering from the University of Hertfordshire and a Bachelor’s Degree in Automotive Engineering from the Technical Institute for Automotive Engineering.
