Bertina Murkovic

Supervisory Board Member at Volkswagen Group

Bertina Maria Murkovic has been a member of the Supervisory Board of Volkswagen AG since May 10, 2017.

Murkovic was born in Genk, Belgium, on October 25, 1957. From 1972 to 1975 she trained as an office administrator, subsequently passing the examination entitling her to enter higher education and obtaining a Magisters degree in sociology and literature in 2000.

She worked at Thyssen AG in Duisburg from 1975 to 1979. She held various positions in the Gewerkschaft Handel, Banken und Versicherungen trade union from 1979 to 1993. She was a specialist assistant to the Works Council of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles in Hanover, Germany, from 2000 to 2002. She served as a member of the Works Council of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles from 2002 to 2009, and has been its Deputy Chairman from 2009 to 2018. Since January 2018, she has been Chairman of the Works Council of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.

Bertina Maria Murkovic holds several lay offices in the IG Metall local organization in Hanover, Germany.

Bertina Murkovic has extensive knowledge and experience in the area of employee matters. Furthermore, she is particularly experienced in interacting and working with trade unions.
