Julia Willie Hamburg

Julia Willie Hamburg has been a member of the Supervisory Board of Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft since her appointment on 8 November 2022.

Ms Hamburg was born in Hannover on 26 June 1986. In 2004, she commenced her studies in political science, philosophy and German studies at the Georg August University of Göttingen.

Ms Hamburg has been a representative of the State Parliament of Lower Saxony since 19 February 2013. She was appointed Lower Saxony’s Minister of Education and Cultural Affairs and Deputy Minister President on 8 November 2022.

She has been a longstanding member of boards of trustees and advisory committees in the area of political education and memorials.

Thanks to her many years of political work, Ms Hamburg is particularly experienced in interacting and working with government and authorities, industry associations, trade unions, and the press.
