François Michonneau

François Michonneau has a diverse work experience spanning several roles and organizations. François currently holds the role of a Senior Training Engineer at Voltron Data, where they started in April 2023. Prior to this, they served as the Lead Training Engineer from August 2022 to April 2023.

Before joining Voltron Data, François worked at The Carpentries from 2018 to 2022. During their tenure, they held multiple positions including Senior Director of Technology from March 2020 to August 2022, Director of Technology from February to March 2020, and Curriculum Development Lead from February 2018 to February 2020. In their role as the Curriculum Development Lead, François played a crucial role in coordinating the community of lesson maintainers, overseeing the development of more than 10 lessons, and leading the publication of over 40 official Carpentries lessons.

François's earliest work experience was at the University of Florida, where they worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher from January 2015 to February 2018. Prior to that, they served as a PhD Graduate Student in Biology (Zoology) from August 2006 to December 2014.

François Michonneau has a strong educational background in the field of biology and zoology. François obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree from the University of Florida, specializing in Biology and Zoology. Prior to that, they completed their Master's degree in Ecology, Biodiversity, and Evolution from Pierre and Marie Curie University. François also holds a Master's degree in Tropical Biology from Université de La Réunion. François Michonneau started their academic journey by earning a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Population Biology from La Rochelle Université.

In addition to their formal education, François Michonneau has also attained a certification as an RStudio Certified Trainer (tidyverse) from RStudio, Inc. in April 2019.
