Shiva Akkihal has a diverse and extensive work experience. In 1995, they started working as a Principal Design Engineer at Standard Microsystems Corp (Oasis Silicon Systems, Oasis Design), where they were involved in various chip and system design tasks. This included digital PLL design, audio codec design, MOST system on a chip design, DSP core design, and more.

They led global R&D teams, overseeing all stages of semiconductor product development, including IC architecture, design, verification, and validation. They also supported the production and launch of new products.
From 2021 to 2023, Shiva worked at Ambiq as the Sr. Director - Engineering, Chip Lead & Program Management. They were responsible for leading engineering teams and program management efforts.
Currently, Shiva holds the position of Sr. Director of Product Design and Program Management at VORAGO Technologies, starting in 2023. More information about their role and responsibilities is not provided.
Shiva Akkihal started their education at K E Boards High School in Dharwad, where they studied from 1979 to 1981. Shiva then attended Karnatak Science College in Dharwad from 1982 to 1984, although the specific degree and field of study they pursued during this time are not mentioned. Following this, they enrolled at the National Institute of Technology Surat and obtained a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree in Electronics, completing their studies from 1984 to 1988. Lastly, they obtained their Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin, where they studied from 1991 to 1995.
