Heather Emerson

Heather Emerson serves as the Head of Design at Coursera since May 2021, bringing extensive experience from previous roles at IDEO, where Heather held various positions including Managing Director and Senior Design Director. At IDEO, Heather led the Learning & Education practice, focusing on innovative learning opportunities aimed at enhancing social mobility. Heather's expertise encompasses creative direction of educational technology products and experiences, such as developing digital tools for personalized learning and applications to support first-generation college students. Heather also has a history of consultancy and teaching roles in design and strategy, complemented by a BS in Product & User Experience Design from ArtCenter College of Design and earlier studies at the University of Michigan.
