Dr. Renee Kaswan is the inventor of dry-eye drug Restasis®, founder of Atlanta-based Georgia Veterinary Specialists (a multi-specialty referral practice and 24-hour emergency facility), and a former University of Georgia Veterinary Ophthalmology professor. During her tenure as a professor at the University of Georgia, Renee developed a revolutionary treatment for chronic dry eye, an ailment afflicting both humans and animals. In 2008 she founded the IP Advocate Foundation, which is dedicated to equipping the academic research community with critical information needed to understand and traverse the complex flow of policy, law and procedure from innovation through technology transfer and commercialization of intellectual property; the goal is to achieve maximum potential benefit for society at large. Renee received her BA in Chemistry from Emory University and her DVM, MS, Veterinary Medicine from The University of Georgia.
