Katie Brown, PhD, has a diverse work experience that spans over two decades. Katie is currently the Founder and Chief Education Officer of EnGen, a virtual language education and training platform. Prior to this, they served as the Chief Education Officer at Voxy, where they oversaw curriculum development and research for their web and mobile-based English learning platform. Katie also worked as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Hunter College and held the position of Principal Research Assistant at the University of Maryland Center for Advanced Study of Language (CASL). Furthermore, they worked as a Language Training Consultant at PerformTech Inc., where they designed a Spanish immersion program for the U.S. Border Patrol Academy. Katie has also held academic leadership roles at the University of Maryland University College and Prince George's Community College. Their career started as an Account Representative at WDS.

Katie Brown, PhD, obtained their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Spanish Language and Literature from the University of Virginia, where they studied from 1994 to 1998. Katie then pursued further education at UCL, graduating with a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Linguistics in 2001. In 2005, Katie enrolled at the University of Maryland, where they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Second Language Acquisition in 2012.
