Zeynep Akgoc

Zeynep Akgoc has a diverse work experience in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. Zeynep currently holds the position of Senior Scientist at Voyager Therapeutics, Inc. since February 2022. Prior to this role, they worked as a Scientist II, Cell Culture at the same company from December 2018 to March 2022.

Before joining Voyager Therapeutics, Zeynep worked at Momenta Pharmaceuticals as a Process Engineer, Biologics Development from April 2017 to December 2018. In this role, they were responsible for designing and conducting studies to support the development, characterization, scale-up, and tech transfer of novel and biosimilar drugs. Zeynep also conducted cell culture experiments using various scale benchtop bioreactors and high-throughput cell culture models.

Zeynep started their career as a Scientific Project Coordinator at Human Metabolome Technologies America in December 2015. In this role, they provided research design and biological interpretation assistance in metabolomics projects for academia and pharmaceutical clients. Zeynep also assisted in sales and marketing activities, including frequent presentations and travels.

Zeynep began their professional journey as a PhD Candidate at Boston College in September 2009, and they completed their PhD in May 2015. Zeynep then continued their research as a Post Doc at Boston College from June 2015 to November 2015.

Zeynep Akgoc obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Biology from Bilkent University, completing their studies between 2004 and 2009. Subsequently, they pursued further education at Boston College, where they earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Cancer Biology and Lipid Biochemistry. This degree was completed between 2009 and 2015.
