Mike Welch

Mike Welch has a diverse work experience, starting with their most recent role as a Quantitative Analyst at VRGL which began in 2022. Prior to that, they worked at BNY Mellon as a Data Analyst from 2018 to 2019, where they focused on consolidation and automation of internal data and developed code for optical character recognition.

Before joining BNY Mellon, Mike served as a Team Captain at the CFA Institute from 2017 to 2018. In this role, they led a team of analysts to formulate a stock recommendation for M&T Bank Corporation, utilizing financial analysis and building financial models on Excel.

In 2015, Mike held two positions. First, as the Utilities, Materials and Energy Sector Head at the Student Managed Investment Fund at SUNY Geneseo, where they led a group of analysts and made critical investment decisions. Second, as a Wealth Management intern at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where they worked with a large amount of data to update client information and build net worth and retirement analysis models.

In 2017, Mike also worked as an Operation Risk Management Intern at Citi, where they managed and eliminated operational risk events by reviewing data and developing action plans.

Throughout their work experience, Mike has demonstrated skills in data analysis, financial modeling, and risk management.

Mike Welch earned a Master's degree in Financial Engineering from UCLA, studying from 2019 to 2020. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Mathematics with a minor in Finance from SUNY Geneseo, where they completed their studies from 2014 to 2018.
