Marcia De Souza Lima

Marcia is an ophthalmologist with extensive experience in medical affairs and clinical development programs in the USA, Europe, and other global regions. More recently, she held the positions of Global Medical Affairs Head, Ophthalmology at Shire/Takeda Pharmaceuticals, Chief Medical Officer at Oculis SA, and Head, Medical Affairs of the Cell and Gene therapy business unit at Santen Pharmaceuticals. She has worked with startups and big pharmaceutical companies, such as Novartis and Pfizer, in roles ranging from medical and clinical research expert to senior executive leader. She has managed global teams of up to 100 employees, and her experience includes working on pharmaceutical, biologics, and device programs. Marcia received her medical degree from the Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil, and furthered her clinical research studies at the Shiley Eye Center, University of California, San Diego. She holds a Master of International Public Policy from Johns Hopkins University and is a candidate for the Executive Global Master in Management at the London School of Economics.
