Data Analyst

London, United Kingdom

Job description

The Company: Wagestream is on a mission to bring better financial wellbeing to frontline workers.

We partner with some of the world’s most famous employers, like Pizza Express, Hilton and the UK’s National Health Service, to give their teams access to fairer financial services - all built around flexible pay. Almost a million people can now choose how often they’re paid, track their shifts and earnings, start saving, use budgeting tools, get free financial coaching, and access fairer financial products. All in one financial wellbeing super-app.

Wagestream is unique: VC-backed and growing at scale-up pace, but with a social conscience. The UK’s leading financial charities and impact funds were our founding investors, and we operate on a social charter - which means every product we build has to improve financial health and reduce the $5.6bn ‘premium’ lower-income earners pay for financial services each year.

You’d be joining a team of 100 talented, ambitious people, growing in Europe, Australia and the USA, building a category-leading fintech product and all united by that same mission.

The Opportunity:

We are looking for a Data Analyst who will use insight to improve our product for both our users and clients. You will get the opportunity to answer big, undefined questions through data analysis using a modern stack (dbt, SQL, R/Python, Tableau), and have a real impact on our product from day 1.

We are just getting started in tapping the potential of our data here at Wagestream. The Data Analyst will be tackling problems not previously investigated, as well as given the freedom to identify new areas of opportunity.

The Team:

We are currently a small data team, but looking to grow quickly in the next year. In terms of line management, you will report to the Senior Data Scientist who will support you technically and with prioritisation.

In terms of your day to day working, we work in a matrix structure and you will be fully embedded into one of our squads working alongside Product Managers, Engineers and Designers. This could mean working in our growth squad in growing user adoption, or in our app squad testing new features and designs.

What will you be doing?:

As a small team, our data analysts get to span the full data lifecycle; expect to spend some of your time building data models in dbt, doing deep dive analysis using SQL, R or Python, and building dashboards in Tableau. You will also spend time with a mix of stakeholders, getting to know their problems and delivering insight in a clear manner that improves their decision-making.

Data at Wagestream is not a service function; you will be empowered to make recommendations and challenge stakeholders based on your knowledge of the data.
