Phyllis Dendle

Phyllis Dendle, Waikiki Health’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), has served their island community in many ways and over many years. Her employment, board positions, memberships and other contributions span health care, the business community, government relations, economic development and more, all indicating a single aim: improving their community.

Prior to serving as Waikiki Health’s CEO, Ms. Dendle held the position of Director of Government Relations for Kaiser Permanente Hawaii, where she was employed for 19 years. She also served as the Chamber of Commerce Hawaii Public Health Fund Administrator for 28 years, and as the Chamber’s Director of Government Affairs for eight of those years. Community service and volunteer experience has included Board membership with Mental Health America of Hawaii, Catholic Charities Hawaii, Susan G. Komen Hawaii and others. She has received numerous honors and awards from health, counseling and hospital associations, including “Hawaii Grass Roots Champion” (advocacy), “Achievement in Advocacy Hawaii Healthcare Hero,” “Counseling Profession Support Award,” “Friend of Pharmacists,” among others.

Phyllis earned a M.A. degree in American Studies and bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. She is a graduate of Radford High School in Honolulu.
