Sydney Klein Mierop

Sydney Klein Mierop serves as the Food Security Program Manager for Wake County since February 2018, where responsibilities include increasing awareness of food security resources, developing partnerships, leading strategic planning, and managing over $11 million in federal funding aimed at enhancing food access for over 1.1 million residents. Prior to this role, Sydney was a Program Coordinator at North Carolina State University, coordinating a multi-county grant program, training extension agents, and producing outreach materials. Earlier experiences include program coordination roles at Groundswell International and Polk County Office of Agricultural Economic Development, along with environmental education and involvement in student-led gardening initiatives during time at Southern Illinois University, where Sydney earned a Master's degree in Geography and Environmental Resources.
