Simona Zappas is a Communications Officer for Youth and Young Adult Programs and Engagement at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, a position held since March 2024. Prior to this role, Zappas has been the Youth Programs Manager at Walker Art Center since March 2018, where responsibilities include authoring and managing youth program publications, redesigning residency programs, and co-curating exhibitions. Zappas has also held various positions at Walker Art Center, including Youth and Community Programs Associate and Youth Programs Coordinator, focusing on youth programming and community engagement. Previous experience includes managing community radio station WFNU Frogtown, coordinating educational programs at SPNN, and assisting in media production and development roles. Zappas holds a Master’s degree in Education from the University of Minnesota and a Bachelor’s degree in Media and Cultural Studies from Macalester College.
