Position Summary:

The Outreach Specialist is responsible for promoting Michigan’s Home Energy Rebate (HER) program in residential areas through effective community engagement. This role involves identifying and developing relationships with community-based partner organizations, organizing, and attending events, and delivering presentations to raise awareness, engagement, and participation within the HER program. The primary goal is to deepen customer awareness and engagement with the HER Program, specifically targeting income-qualified residents and hard-to-engage communities within the state of Michigan. This involves identifying and nurturing relationships with community-based partners, organizing and leading public events, and creating persuasive marketing materials. The successful candidate will collaborate with stakeholders, including local government and CBOs, to streamline the implementation of HER projects. The Outreach Specialist will also contribute to educational initiatives.

  • Research, identify and/or event coordination.
  • Organize and staff outreach opportunities, including meetings and presentations.
  • Assist in the development of communication materials for assigned programs.
  • Develop relationships with community-based partner organizations.

  • Collaborate with local partner organizations to share program updates.
  • Assist Marketing team in larger trade show and seminar events.
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including community organizations, local governments, housing resource providers, and utility companies.
  • Assist in the development of marketing materials.
  • Track and report outreach efforts.
  • Support preparation of monthly and quarterly reports for management.
  • Community engagement and education.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of experience in community outreach and event planning.
  • Project management and data analysis.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong customer service and public speaking skills.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to work efficiently with little guidance.
  • Passion for creating equity within the clean energy economy.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience in educational outreach and networking.
  • Cultural sensitivity.
  • Customer service orientation with regulatory awareness.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Public Relations, Marketing or a related field.

 

Licenses & Certifications

  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.

Travel Requirements

  • Willingness to travel at least 50% of the time.

 

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Required to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift to 30 pounds.
  • The noise level is typically moderate.
