Ben Dueweke has a diverse work experience in the engineering and energy sectors. Ben began their career as a Civil Engineering Intern at C2AE in 2011, where they gained experience in office work and field surveys. In 2012, they worked as a Staff Civil Engineer at Giffels, LLC / IBI Group, focusing on track and site design for the Porsche Experience Center and hydrological analysis of an industrial site. Since 2013, Ben has been with Walker-Miller Energy Services, where they initially served as an Energy Engineer and later became the Director of Community Partnerships. In this role, they have managed programs aimed at reducing energy burdens, improving home health and safety, and providing training and workforce development in low-income communities of color. Ben has demonstrated a willingness to engage with diverse communities, develop relationships, educate people, and advocate for solutions tailored to their needs.
Ben Dueweke attended Michigan State University from 2007 to 2011, where they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural, Environmental, and Materials studies. In addition to their degree, Ben has obtained several certifications, including a Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certification from the Six Sigma Global Institute in December 2020. Ben also holds certifications as a Renewable Energy Professional and a Certified Energy Manager from the Association of Energy Engineers, obtained in October 2019 and February 2016, respectively. Furthermore, Ben is a LEED Green Associate, which they achieved in June 2012 and is accredited by GBCI.
