Jose Barahona

Cloud Engineer at WALT Labs

Jose Barahona has worked in a variety of roles in the IT industry since 2014. From 2014-2018 they were a Sysadmin at Grupo Mantech, where they handled all IT stuff in a small business, including networking, basic services, firewalling, and monitoring for remote clients. Jose also created custom Nagios and Prometheus plugins to do monitoring on HVAC and UPS in datacenters. In 2018 they moved to Serenova as a DevOps Engineer. In 2019 they joined ModusBox as an Infrastructure Support Engineer, working with an interoperability real-time payment solution across payments networks and creating and maintaining release pipelines, automation of testing platforms via CI/CD, and creating and modifying monitoring platforms Grafana/Prometheus. Currently, they are a Cloud Engineer at WALTLabs.io, delivering a robust and resilient Microservice architecture.

Jose Barahona has completed a Lic en Sistemas from Universidad 'Francisco Gavidia' between 2017 and 2019, a tecnico en sistemas from the same university between 2013 and 2014, and a licenciado en ciencias de la computacion from Universidad Centroamericana 'José Simeón Cañas' between 2010 and 2012. Jose has also obtained several certifications, including Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Architect from Google in 2021, Google Cloud Platform Fundamentals: Core Infrastructure from Coursera in 2018, Wharton Online Alumni from Wharton Online in 2018, Entrepreneurship 3: Growth Strategies from University of Pennsylvania in 2018, Introduction to Marketing from Coursera in 2018, Entrepreneurship 2: Launching your Start-Up from Coursera in 2018, Entrepreneurship 1: Developing the Opportunity from Coursera in 2018, and LFS101x.2: Introduction to Linux from edX.
