Thea Ekins-Coward

Thea Ekins-Coward currently serves as the Head of Science at WASE, where the focus is on advancing bio-electrochemical processes for organic waste treatment to produce sustainable energy, clean water, and fertilizers. Prior to this role, Thea held the position of Chief Scientific Officer at Industrial Phycology, leading innovations in microalgae technology for water treatment. Previous experience includes research roles at Newcastle University and Swansea University, with significant contributions to projects involving CO2 uptake, water treatment methodologies, and the production of valuable compounds using light wavelengths. Thea holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering and Advanced Materials and a B.Sc. in Marine Biology, both from Newcastle University.
