Louis Laws possesses extensive experience in educational and mental health settings, currently serving as the Dean of Students at Washington Leadership Academy Public Charter School since August 2018. In this role, Louis focuses on enhancing student success through the creation of safe and healthy learning environments and implementing effective disciplinary methods to reduce suspensions. Prior experience includes working as a Social Worker at KIPP DC, where responsibilities included managing therapy caseloads, conducting assessments, and providing crisis intervention. Louis also held various positions at Maya Angelou Schools/See Forever Foundation, including Lead Student Development Specialist and Mental Health Clinician, contributing to student development and mental health support. Louis holds a Master of Social Work from Howard University and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Voorhees College.
