Raka Choudhury

Raka Choudhury, AICP, currently serves as the Director of Bus Priority at the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) since May 2020, having previously held the position of Senior Program Manager in the same department. Prior experience includes roles as Deputy Associate Director for WMATA Coordination and Citywide Transportation Planner at the District Department of Transportation from August 2015 to May 2020. Raka has an extensive background in transportation planning, having worked at AECOM USA in various capacities, including Planner IV and Transportation Planner, and at AECOM India and AECOM Singapore as Senior Transportation Planner and Transportation Planner, respectively. Additional experience includes urban planning roles at HNTB, the City of Alexandria, and consultancy at Thomas Point Associates, Inc. Raka holds a Master's degree in City & Regional Planning from The Ohio State University and a Bachelor's degree in Architecture from the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi.
