Manager Of The Jica-funded WASH Project & Hygiene Behaviour Change Focal Point at WaterAid

Mamy Ramparany has extensive work experience in various organizations and roles.

From September 2021, Mamy Ramparany has been working as the Manager of the JICA-Funded WASH Project & Hygiene Behaviour Change Focal Point at WaterAid. Previously, from November 2020 to August 2021, they served as the Head of Mission of the UNICEF-funded WASH - Urban Project & HBC Specialist (transversal) at the same organization.

From May 2020 to October 2020, Mamy Ramparany worked as the COVID WASH Emergency Activities Manager & Behaviour Change Specialist (transversal) at WaterAid, where they were involved in the construction of institutional and public sanitary blocks and hand-washing facilities in both urban and rural areas.

Prior to joining WaterAid, Mamy Ramparany was employed at Pact as a Communication Officer for the USAID Hay Tao Program from July 2018 to May 2020. Their responsibilities included environmental protection, climate change, behavior change communication, and institutional communication.

From February 2017 to May 2018, Mamy Ramparany worked at the World Health Organization as an NPO Communication, WASH, Environment, focusing on behavior change communication, communication for development, and institutional communication. They also contributed to the TrackFin/GLAAS initiative.

In their earlier role as an Environmental Education Coordinator at Conservation International from January 2014 to January 2017, Mamy Ramparany worked on projects related to sustainable financing mechanisms for protected areas and water supply in marine protected areas. They also served as the Water Resources Management & Environmental Education Coordinator for the Water-Sanitation-Hygiene project from December 2010 to December 2013, focusing on gravity drinking water supply, surface water resources protection, and integrated water resource management in protected areas.

Before joining Conservation International, Mamy Ramparany briefly worked as a Project Manager for the African Cities for the Future project at AMI Association Miarintsoa, where they were involved in urban sanitation and served as a WSUP service provider.

They also gained experience as a Land Tenure Modernization Project Manager at the Millenium Challenge Account (MCA) Madagascar from January 2008 to December 2009, focusing on land tenure management and geographic information system (GIS) and remote sensing.

Finally, Mamy Ramparany worked at Service d’Appui à la Gestion de l’Environnement (SAGE) in the Marketing & Communication Department as a Project Conception & Management Responsible from January 2005 to December 2007, overseeing project management and funding.

Throughout their career, Mamy Ramparany has developed expertise in various areas, including WASH projects, behavior change communication, institutional communication, environmental protection, climate change, sustainable funding mechanisms, water resource management, and project management.

Mamy Ramparany has a diverse education history. Mamy studied at the Université d'Antananarivo, Faculté des Sciences, where they obtained an AEA degree in Hydrogéologie. Mamy also attended the Ecole Supérieure Polytechnique d'Antananarivo, where they earned a DEA degree in Ingenierie de Gestion de Projet - Gestion de Projet dans un Contexte de Développement Durable. Additionally, Mamy Ramparany obtained a Technicien Superieur degree in Hydrogeologie from the Université d'Antananarivo, TSST.

In terms of additional certifications, Mamy Ramparany has completed several courses and obtained various certifications. These include Certificat d'achèvement Assainissement Basé sur le Marché from IRCWASH, Resilient and Inclusive WASH from UTS College, Synergizing Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation from the United Nations System Staff College (UNSSC), and Project DPro: Project Management for Development Professionals from the Humanitarian Leadership Academy. Other certifications include Fundraising Strategies from Philanthropy University, Planning for Monitoring and Evaluation from FHI 360, Nature-based Solutions for Sustainable Development from UNDP, and IWRM FOR CLIMATE RESILIENCE from Cap-Net UNDP.
