Mary Idowu has accumulated several years of experience in finance and compliance roles within the non-profit sector. Mary started their career as a Finance Assistant at Save the Children UK in 2010, where they were responsible for maintaining financial records and assisting with budget activities. Mary then moved on to Save the Children International in 2011, taking on the role of Finance Officer. In this position, they supported the Finance Manager in maintaining accurate accounting records, preparing reports for donors, monitoring expenditures, and coordinating payments. Mary then transitioned to the role of Grant Compliance Officer at Save the Children International in 2012, where they were responsible for monitoring grant contracts and ensuring compliance with donor requirements. Mary also assisted the Grant Manager in monitoring partner budgets and ensuring compliance with procurement regulations. In 2013, Mary joined Save the Children International as a Finance and Award Compliance Coordinator. In this role, they were responsible for checking payment requests, ensuring financial compliance, collecting partner financial reports, and working with budget holders on budget review and reallocation. Most recently, Mary worked as a Project Accountant at WaterAid starting in 2018. Mary'sresponsibilities included reviewing payment requests, preparing budgets and financial reports for donors, ensuring compliance with donor rules, and reviewing monthly expenses. Throughout their career, Mary has demonstrated strong attention to detail, financial management skills, and a commitment to upholding financial procedures and regulations.
Mary Idowu completed their education with a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Accounting from the University of Maiduguri, where they studied from 2000 to 2004. Mary then pursued a Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in Accounting and Finance from Bayero University, Kano, during the years 2007 to 2008. Later, Mary obtained a Master's Degree in Treasury Management from the same institution, Bayero University, Kano, from 2012 to 2013.
