Laura Blattner began their work experience as an intern at the International Monetary Fund in 2012, where they led a research project on sovereign debt composition. Laura then worked as a Visiting Research Scientist at the Bank of Portugal from 2015 to 2018, where they developed a pattern recognition algorithm and led a research team to analyze the effects of regulatory policy on bank lending. In 2018, Laura became an Assistant Professor of Finance at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business. Currently, they are working at Watershed as the Head of Climate Risk and also involved in Data Science. Watershed focuses on accelerating the fight against climate change by providing companies with real-time, data-driven tools to help them decarbonize their businesses.
Laura Blattner obtained a Ph.D. in Economics and Political Economy from Harvard University, where they studied from 2013 to 2018. Prior to that, they completed their Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Economics at the University of Oxford from 2010 to 2012. Laura also holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) from the University of Oxford, which they received from 2007 to 2010. In addition to their academic qualifications, Laura Blattner has obtained a Wilderness First Responder certification from NOLS Wilderness Medicine in June 2022.
