Manager, Climate Advisory

NY, United States of America

Job description

About Watershed

Watershed is a software platform for running a world-class climate program. We measure our success in the carbon reduction achievements of our customers. We are looking for team members who love product-building, want to work hard at a mission-oriented startup, and will collaborate with us in shaping the culture of a growing team.

We have offices in San Francisco, New York and London and remote team members across the US and Europe. We hope that you'll be interested in joining us!

The role

Watershed is seeking an experienced Manager to join our Climate Advisory team. Our Climate Advisors work directly with customers – Walmart, BlackRock, FedEx, and more – helping them craft and evolve best-in-class climate programs. We then apply our expertise internally, working alongside our product and engineering teams to build climate intelligence into the platform.

This team is focused primarily on decarbonization strategies, and is critical to Watershed’s mission to reduce or remove 500 megatons of CO2 equivalent — approximately 1% of annual global emissions.

As a Manager, you will lead and support a team of Climate Advisors, ensuring they have the resources, guidance, and skills necessary to grow as trusted advisors and to lead impactful cross-functional projects (we work on many industry-firsts!).

You will be responsible for managing team performance, crafting the organizational strategy to help the function scale, and working with cross-functional partners to identify and prioritize opportunities to build climate insights into the Watershed platform.

You Will:

  • Hire, develop, and coach a high-achieving team of Climate Advisors
  • Manage individual and team performance, taking necessary actions to ensure high standards and continuous improvement
  • Support team success day-to-day, taking an active role in helping the team drive customer engagement on core focus areas such as decarbonization and disclosure strategy
  • Represent the Climate Advisory function within the broader Watershed management team
  • Collaborate with our Operations team to develop, implement, and manage change around processes and tools that help the Climate Advisory function scale efficiently and effectively
  • Work closely with product, engineering, and go-to-market leadership as well as the broader Climate organization to identify and prioritize opportunities to build climate intelligence

You Have:

  • At least 8 years of experience in professional services, with at least 2 years directly managing teams
  • Experience in or exposure to corporate sustainability or related fields
  • Experience driving strategic initiatives in complex organizations, managing internal and external stakeholders
  • Passion for (or experience with) joining a growth-stage startup, and high level of comfort with ambiguity

At Watershed, we strive to design consistent, fair, and competitive compensation programs. The total cash compensation range may be inclusive of several levels at Watershed and final offer will be determined by a number of factors, including the candidate’s skills, capabilities, and location, as well as scope of the role.

The anticipated cash compensation range is in addition to a total rewards benefit package including equity, health/dental/vision insurance, 401(k), unlimited paid time off, paid parental leave, fertility, and mental health programs etc.

Salary Range
$150,000$212,000 USD

FAQ

Where does Watershed work?

We have hub offices in San Francisco, New York and London, and some remote team members in the US and EU. Most of our jobs need to be in San Francisco / New York / London, but certain jobs are open to being remote and will be specifically noted on the jobs page and in the job description.

What’s the interview process like?

It starts the same for every candidate: getting to know the team members through 1 to 2 conversations about Watershed, your experience, and your interests. Next steps can vary by role, but usual next steps are a skill or experience screen (e.g. a coding interview for an engineer, a portfolio review for a designer, deeper experience call for other roles) which leads to a virtual or in person interview panel after that if the screens go well. We prioritize transparency and lack of surprise throughout the process.
