John Finnson

John Finnson is a Senior Engineer at Wattpad. John has also worked as a Software Engineer Team Lead at ChefHero from September 2016 to May 2019. At ChefHero, they were responsible for the "Core" production Backend, API and DB Architect, and Firefighter. John also owned the entire backend release process and oversaw majority of Major, Minor, and Hotfix releases for 2+ years. In addition, they were responsible end-to-end for many major features, such as Elasticsearch for search and view models, all search apis, Client "Ledger", Rewrite of Client API, SR&ED Raw Data Import Tool, etc. Furthermore, they were responsible for programming and managing numerous major refactors. John also implemented the foundation for backend unit tests and helped raise the coverage to ~45%. As a Software Engineer Team Lead, they also oversaw projects for other developers, led multi Dev projects, and played a key role in defining and enforcing processes. John was also a team role model for high quality work and helped build and contribute to team roadmap vision. In addition to their work at ChefHero, John Finnson has also been successful in SR&ED projects and attends multiple conferences regularly.

John Finnson has a Masters of Math from the University of Waterloo in the field of Computer Science. John also has a Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology in the field of Software Engineering.
