Jennifer May has worked in the footwear and aquatics industries since 1990. Jennifer began their career in 1990 as a Product Manager for Children's Keds at Stride Rite Corporation. During their time there, they developed product that drove business to $80 million in 1993 from $60 million in 1990. In 1994, they became the Director of Footwear Product Development at OshKosh B'Gosh, where they introduced product that increased wholesale sales to over $10 million in 2000 from $3 million in 1994. In 2002, they became a Consultant for Vida Shoes and in 2001 they were the Director of Product Development for Children's Keds at Stride Rite. In 2004, they became the Director of Footwear Product Development and Merchandising for the Gina Group, where they directed all footwear product development of licensed brands. From 2008 to 2014, they were the Director of Footwear Product Development and Merchandising for Baby and Toddler at ABG Accessories. During this time, they led strategic planning, aesthetics, merchandising and product development of all baby and toddler footwear. In 2014, they launched and currently manages the swim and water safety school Lifecycle Swimming. Jennifer is also the owner of Kid Shoe Media, LLC and the publisher of Kidshoeology.com. In 2020, they became a Sales and Marketing Consultant for WAVE Drowning Detection Systems.
Jennifer May began their educational journey at Memorial High School. Jennifer then attended Boston University from 1982 to 1987, where they earned a B.S. in Communications and Advertising. In 1992, they earned a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Children's Literature from Simmons University, which they completed in 1996. In 2010, they attended the Manhattan Comedy School to study Stand Up Comedy. Additionally, in 2015 they obtained a Water Safety Instructor certification from the American Red Cross and holds an American Red Cross Lifeguard Certificate.
