Zach Deocadiz

Senior VR Designer at Wave

Zach Deocadiz has extensive experience in the field of virtual reality (VR) and user interface (UI)/user experience (UX) design. Zach started their career at Weebly as a Design Intern, where they focused on UI/UX and created illustrations based on style guide specifications. Zach then worked at RISD STEAM Press as a Designer, responsible for designing and executing the STEAM Catalogue publication, maintaining the website, and creating posters for STEAM events.

Afterwards, Zach joined Brown University as a Teaching Assistant, where they helped develop workshops, labs, and assignments related to visual design in the CS1300: User Interfaces and User Experiences course.

Zach then transitioned to Hack@Brown as a Design Lead, leading a team and focusing on designing the registration flow for the hackathon. Additionally, they collaborated in creating the visual identity for Hack@Brown.

In 2017, Zach joined Within as a Designer, working on the AR storytelling app called //Wonderscope. Zach led the design of all 2D UI elements, including the update to the story carousel. During their time at Within, the app received several awards and recognition.

Moving forward, Zach worked at ProUnlimited for Oculus as a Product Designer, before joining Supernatural as a Designer. At Supernatural, they were responsible for designing the UX of the Oculus Quest menu system and the mobile companion app, as well as managing the interaction between the two platforms. Zach also led the UI design for the mobile companion app.

In 2020, Zach joined Vicarious Surgical Inc. as a VR UI/UX Designer. In this role, they led the design of all digital UI systems on various platforms, including VR, 3D screen, touchscreen, and 2D display. Zach created prototypes in Unity and design systems in Figma.

Most recently, Zach joined FitXR as a Senior Product Designer, contributing their expertise in VR design. Currently, they are working at Wave as a Senior VR Designer, where they apply their skills and knowledge in VR design to contribute to the company's projects.

Zach Deocadiz began their education at South Island School, where they completed their high school education from 2006 to 2013. In 2014, they enrolled in both the Rhode Island School of Design and Brown University. At Brown University, however, it is not specified whether they obtained a degree or pursued a specific field of study. Meanwhile, Zach successfully completed their Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Graphic Design from the Rhode Island School of Design, graduating in 2017.
