Marshall Tappen

Marshall Tappen is a seasoned professional in the fields of computer science and engineering, currently serving as Director and Principal Software Engineer at Waymo, focusing on Scene Understanding. Previously at Amazon, Marshall held several key roles, including Principal Applied Scientist and Principal Research Scientist for Amazon Scout, where leadership in creating autonomous delivery robot systems was pivotal. Academic experience includes a tenured position as Associate Professor of Computer Science at the University of Central Florida and a role as Assistant Professor at Row Sham Bow, Inc. Marshall holds a Ph.D. and a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, along with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Brigham Young University.
