Paul Karplus

Paul Karplus is a seasoned hardware engineer with expertise in designing electronics for self-driving cars at Waymo since July 2013. Prior to this, Paul Karplus served as a consultant, focusing on product design and rapid prototyping, including developing an ultra-lightweight folding desk stand and high power permanent magnet AC motors. Experience includes a position as a robotics researcher at Stanford University, contributing to the development of the robotic hand for the RoboSimian project. Paul Karplus also designed high power density motors at Mission Motors and conducted safety tests on automotive lithium battery packs at Tesla Motors. Educational credentials include a Master of Science in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, both from Stanford University.
