Sara Kacin

Director of the Office of Teaching and Learning (OTL) at Wayne State University

Dr. Sara E. Kacin is Director (interim) of the Wayne State University (WSU) Office for Teaching and Learning (OTL).

Prior to this appointment, Dr. Kacin has held increasingly responsible appointments within the OTL, serving as assistant and then interim associate director. Additionally, Dr. Kacin brings to this newest role expertise and experiences gained from a range of positions in industry and the academy.

Kacin has significant experience teaching graduate courses at Wayne State University. She has also taught undergraduate courses in traditional, hybrid and online settings at Oakland University and Baker College. Kacin will continue to serve as an adjunct assistant professor in the WSU College of Education.

Kacin is a co-investigator on the National Institutes of Health-funded National Cancer Institute R25 grant, Integrated Course in the Biology and Physics of Radiation Oncology. The research team is led by co-primary investigators Mike Joiner, School of Medicine, and Monica Tracey, College of Education. Kacin’s most recent publication is the co-authored article, IBPRO–A Novel Short-Duration Teaching Course in Advanced Physics and Biology Underlying Cancer Radiotherapy in the journal Radiation Research.

In this role, Kacin continues her long standing personal and professional dedication to public education in Michigan. She obtained her Ph.D. at Wayne State University, master’s degree at Oakland University, and undergraduate degree at Michigan State University.
