Head Start Early Education Specialist at Wayne-Westland Community Schools

Karen Sherman has a diverse work experience in various educational and childcare settings. Karen started their career as a Resource Room Teacher at Alcona Community High School in 2014, where they worked with students with disabilities and collaborated with general education teachers. In 2015, they joined Learning Care Group as a Lead Teacher, responsible for creating engaging lessons and promoting diversity in the classroom. Karen later became a Team Lead, providing coaching and support to teachers while assisting in professional development and ensuring center procedures. Karen then worked as a Teacher at The Learning Tree Child Care Center before joining KinderCare Education as a Site Director in 2020. In 2021, they became a Head Start Early Education Specialist at Wayne-Westland Community Schools. Karen is currently working as a Director at KinderCare Learning Companies. Additionally, they worked as an Independent Contractor for Shipt in 2019.

Karen Sherman holds a Master's degree in Early Childhood Education and Teaching from Eastern Michigan University, which they attained from 2017 to 2020. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Applied Science in Special Education and Teaching at Eastern Michigan University, between 2008 and 2013. In June 2019, they obtained a certification as a Teacher (Special Education) from the State of Michigan.
