Brent Buydens, CFA, currently serves as the Chief Investment Officer at WCB Manitoba, overseeing a $1.7 billion investment portfolio since January 2020. Prior to this role, Brent worked as an Investment Consultant at Ellement Consulting Group from November 2014 to January 2020, providing investment advice to institutional clients across Canada. Brent's earlier experience includes commercial banking at Scotiabank from November 2012 to November 2014, and personal banking at TD from June 2010 to October 2012. Educated at the University of Manitoba, Brent holds a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) in Accounting and Finance, and is a CFA Charterholder, having completed the program through the CFA Institute between 2011 and 2014. Additional education includes the Canadian Securities Course from the Canadian Securities Institute in 2008.

Workers Compensation Board of Manitoba
The Workers Compensation Board (WCB) is a statutory corporation providing a workplace injury and disability insurance system for workers and employers. The Workers Compensation Board of Manitoba was founded in 1916 with the passing of The Workers Compensation Act and officially opened in 1917. The program is the result of a Canadian compromise struck in the early twentieth century and maintained to this day – injured workers gave up the right to sue their employers in exchange for guaranteed no-fault benefits in the event of a work related injury or illness, and employers agreed to pay for the system, in exchange for protection against lawsuits.
