Dan Starks is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in safety and crime awareness initiatives. At WCNC-TV since 2000, Starks has been part of the Safety & Awareness Investigative Team, contributing to two notable TV series, "Don't Be A Victim" and "Partners Against Crime." As the owner of Starks Training Institute, Inc. since December 1988, Starks provides self-defense training and produces relevant media content, including a radio program, "Starks Reality," on WBT 1110 AM, and a weekly column for the Charlotte Observer. Starks also held leadership positions as the past president of Charlotte Crime Stoppers and the FBI Citizens Academy. Earlier career experience included a role in advertising dispatch with Gannett newspapers from 1968 to 1975, working closely with advertisers and production staff. Starks holds a degree in Psychology with a focus on Abnormal Behavior from St. John Fisher College, completed in 1970.
