Donnell Gavin has an extensive work history in the entertainment and media industry. Donnell began their career as a National Editorial Intern at Northeast Performer Magazine in 2006, followed by a role as a Freelance Writer for Performer Magazine, where they wrote feature-length profiles, conducted interviews, and reviewed albums. In 2007, they worked as a Music and Talent Intern at MTV Networks, where they assisted with photo shoots, researched artists, and coordinated communication between departments.
In 2008, Donnell joined Republic Records as a Promotion Assistant, supporting the radio promotion department and working with over 30 artists across multiple genres. Donnell distributed music, managed financial records, and implemented promotional strategies to increase artist awareness.
Donnell then transitioned to BMF Media, where they held various positions from 2010 to 2021. Donnell started as a Senior Talent Manager, where they represented 10 performers, managed bookings and public relations efforts, and sought performance and brand collaboration opportunities. In 2015, they became the VP of Entertainment Marketing, responsible for business development, department growth, and serving as the primary client contact. Donnell developed comprehensive entertainment strategies and established relationships with talent agencies and industry professionals. In 2019, they were promoted to VP of Entertainment and Influencer Marketing, overseeing influencer and entertainment marketing divisions and leading the strategy and execution of over 200 projects a year, focusing on content creation, live performances, celebrity appearances, brand partnerships, and collaborations. Currently, Donnell holds the position of Head of Operations at We Are BMF, where they continue to contribute their expertise in operations and management.
Donnell Gavin obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a concentration in Writing from Yale University, completing the program between 2004 and 2008. Later on, from 2019 to 2022, Donnell pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from New York University. No specific field of study was mentioned for the MBA program.
