Danika Johnston has a long history of work experience in the media industry, beginning with their role as a Client Sales Executive at Network Ten in 1998. Danika then worked as an Account Executive at Trader Media Group and Publishing in 2001, followed by a return to Network Ten as a Client Sales Executive in 2002. Danika then moved to DMG Radio Australia, where they held the roles of Sales Manager and Senior Sales Executive from 2003 to 2014. In 2014, Danika joined Authentic Entertainment Australia as the National Commercial Director - digital/broadcast. Later that year, they became the National Digital Sales & Partnerships Director at Vevo. From 2015 to 2019, they held the role of National Digital Commercial Director/Client Partnerships at Mamamia Women's Network. In 2019, they began working as the National Digital Sales Manager at Special Broadcasting Service (SBS) Australia. Finally, in 2021, they joined TikTok as the Industry Lead CPG/Beauty/Auto before becoming the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) at WeAre8 in 2022.
