Valorie Starr

Director, Library Services at Weatherford College

Valorie Starr is currently the Director of Library Services at Weatherford College. Valorie has previous experience working as a Library Director, R&D Coordinator, and Reference/Interlibrary Loan Librarian. Starr has also been an Assistant Instructor and Temporary Librarian.

Starr began their career in 1999 as an Assistant Instructor at Wichita State University. Valorie then became a Reference/Interlibrary Loan Librarian at Friends University in 2000. In 2004, they began working as an R&D Coordinator at Koch-Glitsch LP. And finally, in 2007, they became the Library Director at Sterling College.

As Library Director, Starr was responsible for creating and tracking all library budget lines. Valorie also supervised all staff and student workers, developed the collection through selection of print and electronic resources, and promoted library research classes and resources to the campus community. In 2013, they left Sterling College to become the Director of Library Services at Weatherford College.

In their current position, Starr is responsible for managing the library budget, supervising library staff, developing library collections, and promoting library resources to the college community.

Valorie Starr has a Masters in Library Science from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor of Arts in Slavic Languages and Literatures (Russian) from The University of Kansas.

Lou Ann Baker - Library Clerk, Cataloging, Kathy Renken - Instruction Librarian, and Jana McFadden - Library Clerk report to Valorie Starr. They are on a team with Mika Foreman - Interim Director, Admissions, Jessica McKee - Director, Workforce Education, and Corina Flatten - Director, ESL & Special Projects in Education. Valorie Starr reports to Tod Allen Farmer, President.
